Nathan was a farmer and was respected as a man and a citizen in Braxton County. He and two of his sisters, Nancy and Miriam, married descendants of Benjamin Lemasters, one of the pioneer families of Western Virginia, and a Revolutionary Soldier. Nathan later moved to Servia, where he built a large home on Duck Creek near an old Indian Mound. Nearly all of the surrounding land at Servia was once owned by Nathan and his descendants. Some of his descendants still live there.
